Illumine8 is joining the trend of getting bronze for the summer! Our inbound marketing agency won a 2018 Bronze Summit Creative Award (SCA) for a Product/Service Website.
We submitted a website redesign for our client, Cochran & Mann, a commercial painting company in Frederick, Maryland. Our client requested a full website redesign that coincided with their established brand. The goal was to create a more engaging lead generation tool while transforming the perception of the painting industry.
Over two months, the once-static website was revamped to become more mobile-friendly and dynamic and to include high-resolution project photography. Users now experience a cleaner website that seamlessly captures and tracks leads and uses a content marketing strategy that educates visitors to the fun world of commercial painting and wallcovering.
Graphic Designer Erik Pitzer designed the website, Senior Content Writer Steve Surdez provided the site copy, and Technical Lead Mark Ryba coded the entire project.
"We’re very proud to win our first award for website development," Christina May, CMO and founder of Illumine8, said.
"This Summit International Award (SIA) wouldn't have been possible without the partnership of our clients and dedication of our staff. We are thrilled to share another win with Cochran & Mann."
According to the Summit International Awards, more than 5,000 entries were submitted by small to midsize advertising and public relations agencies, creative boutiques, in-house marketing departments, video production companies, web and graphic designers, and interactive firms.
Entries came from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US).
The likelihood of being selected out of 5,000 entries from multiple countries was as follows, according to the SIA website:
- 1 percent finalist
- 4 percent bronze
- 5 percent silver
- 1 percent gold
During the judging processes, a panelist of professionals from Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Germany, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Ukraine, the UK, and the US searched for and identified innovative and creative concepts, strong executions and user experience, and the ability to communicate and persuade.
Winners were selected in 119 categories from nine media segments, including print, broadcast, interactive media, online advertising, marketing collateral, direct mail, video marketing, and industry-specific marketing.
Winning submissions were selected based on the strength of concept, including the originality and uniqueness of approach, message targeting and honing, and the synergy between concept, copy, and layout. Another judging consideration was quality of execution, including visual appeal, tone, chosen media, and placement.
The final considerations were the ability to persuade and judges' Power Points, which were used at the discretion of judges to boost certain submissions which they identify as exemplary.
"Winning a Summit Creative Award is a significant accomplishment in one’s career," Jocelyn Luciano, Executive Director for the SIA, said.
With vetted judges, tough judging criteria, two-phase blind judging processes, and strict bylaws limiting winners, only deserving entries receive recognition."
Celebrating its 23rd year, the SCA firmly established itself as the premier arbiter of creative excellence for firms around the world and has become a coveted honor, according to a press release.
"The creative work this year was outstanding," said Luciano. "Watching the judges debate the details of individual entries in the run-off for the tops spots was inspiring."
Once again, thank you so much to the SIA and SCA for choosing our website redesign out of thousands of entries from around the world. We look forward to working toward another statuette in the coming years!
