Illumine8 wins multiple international marketing awards

By |

Illumine8 is being recognized for its success once again. Our marketing consultancy won both a 2019 Gold Hermes Creative Award and a Communicator Award of Excellence for the second straight year. We are proud to be rewarded for our work by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) and the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).

To earn our Hermes Creative Award, we submitted an entry of a folder brochure for our client Hi-Tech Fasteners (HTF Inc.), an ISO-certified, master-stocking distributor of electronic hardware, fasteners, and components based in the U.S. and Canada. The submission was for Print Media in the Marketing Collateral/Branding/Brochure subcategory.

HTF Inc. approached us looking for a reliable partner to help them implement and strategize their rebranding efforts. While HTF Inc. had an established brand, many of its marketing materials were outdated and inconsistent. These were cleaned up by our team and the award-winning folder brochure is a prime example of our success with this campaign.

We earned our Communicator Award of Excellence for Websites under the General-Health Care Services subcategory by submitting a website design for the Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

The Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center needed a cleaner-looking, user-friendly website with high-quality functionality designed for its organization. We were able to hit the mark in these areas and deliver a website design that we are proud of.

“We are honored to see our work recognized by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals and the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts,” Christina May, CMO and founder of Illumine8, said. “These international awards wouldn't have been possible without the partnership of our clients and the dedication of our staff.”

Hermes Creative Awards

The Hermes Creative Awards is “an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional materials, marketing and communications programs, and emerging technologies.” The Hermes Creative Awards “recognizes outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.” The competition has grown to become one of the largest of its kind in the world. According to the Hermes Creative Awards, nearly 6,500 submissions were submitted by marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, digital media production, and freelance professionals across the U.S. and 19 other countries.

The nominations for the Hermes Creative Awards are administered and judged by the AMPC — one of the largest, oldest, and most respected third-party evaluators of creative work in the marketing and communications industry. The organization has judged more than 200,000 entries since its formation in 1994.

Over the last 25 years, AMCP has built a reputation for accuracy, fairness, and credibility. Their annual list of winners is considered a “who’s who of the creative industry.” Judging takes about eight weeks of eight-hour days to review all of the work that is submitted. The competition’s entries are judged at random and not directly compared to other entries in their category, meaning what is taken into account most is the creativity behind the entry and the resources available to create it. There can be multiple winners or no winners in any given category. Using the judges’ consensus, a score is given to each entry. Entries with scores between 90-100 points are Platinum Winners. Entries scored between 80-89 points are Gold Winners.

Communicator Award of Excellence

With more than 6,000 entries from across the U.S. and around the world, The Communicator Awards is the “largest and most competitive awards program" that includes entries from top advertising and interactive "agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms” across the globe, according to The Communicator Awards press release. Former winners of the competition’s highest honor — the Award of Excellence — include ESPN Films, Forbes Media, PepsiCo, Scorpion, WWE, and Publicis Sapient.

The AIVA, which oversees The Communicator Awards, is a panel of judges that includes 600-plus leading professionals from "various disciplines of the visual arts [who are] dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media," according to the press release. AIVA members include executives from organizations such as Airtype Studio, Big Spaceship, Conde Nast, Coach, Disney, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Estee Lauder, Fry Hammond Barr, Lockheed Martin, MTV Networks, Pitney Bowes, rabble+rouser, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Time, Inc, Victoria’s Secret, Wired, and Yahoo!

Each entry for The Communicator Awards is given equal opportunity of winning an award. Entries are judged based on a standard of excellence in marketing and communications. Like the Hermes Creative Awards, entries are judged independently and on their quality, so sometimes a category can have multiple winners, or none at all. The judges use a 100-point scale to score the entries. “Excellence” winners receive a score of 90 or higher; “Distinction” winners receive a score between 70 and 89.

Thank You!

On behalf of Illumine8, we want to thank the AMCP and the AIVA for choosing our entries for these distinguished awards out of thousands of submissions from around the world. We look forward to earning more honors in the future.
